I’m very excited to share that I will be reporting on upcoming events for the PRSA Portland Metro chapter meetings and events.

If you are a PR pro in the Portland area and aren’t’ attending these events, then what are you waiting for? Meet other pros in the area and keep up on the latest industry trends. I can’t recommend it enough.

Here’s a seek peak at some of the upcoming events:

Tuesday, March 8th Chapter Luncheon: Communicating Amid Crisis
Time: 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Location: MAC Club

Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square, known as the City’s Living Room, was the target of a Homeland Security threat on the night of its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. This threat, immediately garnering international attention, tested the Square’s planning efforts, communication methods and strategic partnerships.

Join PRSA Portland Metro on March 8, 2011 for a delicious lunch at the Multnomah Athletic Club as we welcome Jennifer Polver and Theresa Vetsch- Sandoval of Pioneer Courthouse Square, Inc. to learn about their organization’s communication efforts amid this event, lessons learned and their plans for the future.

You will also hear valuable, takeaway tips for your organization on the essentials of emergency risk communication and how stay on message when it really counts. Christie Holmgren, APR, is the retired public information planning manager for the State of Oregon’s Public Health Emergency Preparedness program through the Department of Human Services (DHS). She has 30 years of combined experience in communications, public relations and community affairs, and has received numerous local, state and national awards for her work. She is a certified trainer in the CDC’s Crisis and Emergency Risk Communications curriculum.
