Tuesday, March 8th Chapter Luncheon: Communicating Amid Crisis
Time: 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Location: MAC Club
Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square, known as the City’s Living Room, was the target of a Homeland Security threat on the night of its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. This threat, immediately garnering international attention, tested the Square’s planning efforts, communication methods and strategic partnerships.
Join PRSA Portland Metro on March 8, 2011 for a delicious lunch at the Multnomah Athletic Club as we welcome Jennifer Polver and Theresa Vetsch- Sandoval of Pioneer Courthouse Square, Inc. to learn about their organization’s communication efforts amid this event, lessons learned and their plans for the future.
You will also hear valuable, takeaway tips for your organization on the essentials of emergency risk communication and how stay on message when it really counts. Christie Holmgren, APR, is the retired public information planning manager for the State of Oregon’s Public Health Emergency Preparedness program through the Department of Human Services (DHS). She has 30 years of combined experience in communications, public relations and community affairs, and has received numerous local, state and national awards for her work. She is a certified trainer in the CDC’s Crisis and Emergency Risk Communications curriculum.
Tuesday, March 22nd After Hours: An Inside Look at the Portland Trial Blazers’ Communications Program
Time: 5:15 p.m.-10:00 p.m.
Location: Fountain Room at the Memorial Coliseum
Join PRSA-Portland Metro Chapter for an inside look at the Portland Trail Blazers’ communications program, and watch the Blazers face off against the Washington Wizards.
Prior to the game, we’ll meet with Traci Rose, vice president of communications and community relations for the Blazers, and Dan Harbison, director of interactive marketing and media. They’ll tell us how they create and promote a championship culture, sharing how they do business today from internal to external to digital communications. Learn why their social media program is being touted as one of the best in professional sports.
We’ll meet in the Fountain Room at the Memorial Coliseum before the game. Appetizers and the first drink is on us! After the game, we’ll head down to the court and shoot a free throw.
