One of the challenges of being a young professional is that the average entry-level salary doesn’t leave much left over for shopping. So when it comes to dressing for work, how do you find professional clothes that won’t break your budget?

I’ve always had champagne taste on a beer budget. It’s all about looking for the right things at the right places. Here are some adorable looks, all for very affordable prices.

Here are a couple more tips:
  • Shop factory stores. My favorites are Banana Republic, Nordstrom RACK and J.Crew (You can actually shop J.Crew Factory online!)
  • Shop on RueLaLa. Here’s your invite. I’ve been on a tighter budget lately, so I don’t use it very often, but it’s great for investment pieces that you want for a killer deal. For example, I got my Cole Haan nude pumps for half of what they normally are. Still a splurge, but a better deal than normally.
  • Scour the sale racks. LOFT for example, has crazy sales in store and will occasionally have deals where it’s a sale on top of sale. Best deal I ever got was a $3.50 dress. Seriously, that’s a latte’, but when you consider that I’ve worn it at least 10 times…THAT’s a deal!! J.Crew also has some great sales. They are rare, but when they’re good, they’re GOOD! Always look for sales on sales. I’d personally much rather be a sale hunter than shop at thrift stores. Most of the time, I can find even better deals in the retail stores than thrift. If you’re patient and willing to leave the store empty-handed 70 percent of the time, then you can be successful too.
